Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ ) is a special category of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) that is a deemed foreign territory within India. FTWZ was introduced under Chapter 7A of the Foreign Trade Policy 2004-09 and is governed by SEZ Act 2005 & Rules 2006.
While traditional SEZs are purely meant for manufacturing and exports, FTWZs are mainly to facilitate trade with or without value optimising.
